Achieving Sustainability with Advance technology

GE opened an “ecomagination centre” in Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City as part of a cooperation agreement with Mubadala Development Company and the Government of Abu Dhabi. The 840 square-metre space in Masdar City’s Incubator Building, showcases GE’s advanced technologies from cleaner solutions for power grids to upmarket appliances. It will open doors to the substantial commercial opportunities of sustainable development and renewable energy, as well as debate the necessary progress in policy and technology to achieve a sustainable future.”

Designed in conjunction with urban planners, data scientists and industry specialists, Madinati blends digital and physical to create a data driven urban sandpit. In this, users can explore a range of real-life, accurate city scenarios, exploring how a range of inter-connected GE products and services can delivery real economic and environmental benefits.

John Tantoco designed the critical touchpoints of the exhibition, this includes the center piece by merging traditional mediums and digital technologies: Madinati, a city of 5 million people, brought to life through a jaw dropping 16sqm interactive table that combines physical buildings, with the underlying ‘behaviour’ of the city shown through digital animations under the perspex model city and brought to life for users by interactive screens, projection and voice-over.

The centre’s theme focuses on environmental trends that will shape our collective futures, the centre features 10 custom digital interactive stations – using a range of technologies from motion sensing to physical / digital integrated elements – and wall graphics to tell its story.
